All engineers take this course, usually in the second semester of first year. A 4 or 5 on the AP Computer Science A or AB exam will exempt you from this course. Since many incoming first-years have either taught themselves to program or have taken a non AP class, you may also take an exam during fall orientation to place out of this class.

Introduces the basic principles and concepts of object-oriented programming through a study of algorithms, data structures and software development methods in Java. Emphasizes both synthesis and analysis of computer programs.
